(Un)supported adapter cables
Most of cables to connect the PYNQ board to your laptop will work fine, but some will not. When you buy an adapter check that it is supported by your operating system, especially for macOS and Linux.
Before you buy a new cable/adapter, first check that your PYNQ board isn't the problem. You can do this by trying with another cable/adapter that has both been proven to work on another PYNQ board.
(Un)supported Ethernet adapters
Cables that we've tested are:
- BENFEI Ethernet to USB-C: works on macOS
- CableExpert A-USB3C-LAN-01 Ethernet to USB-C: works on macOS
- Dell DA300 hub: does not work.
- Digitus Ethernet to USB-A: works on Windows. Works on macOS with an additional USB-A to USB-C cable (such as the Maxxter hub below).
- Edimax Ethernet to USB-A: works on Windows but does not work on macOS.
- Gembird Ethernet to USB-A: works on Windows but does not work on macOS.
- ISY Ethernet to USB-A (IAD-1010-A): does not work with macOS.
- Satechi Ethernet to USB-C: works on macOS.
Without Ethernet connection you will be able to log in to the PYNQ board using the serial port. However, it offers limited functionality and is therefore recommended for debugging only.
