Connect the PYNQ board to your computer
After flashing the correct image to your SD card and configuring your PYNQ, both of wich only have to be done once, we can now proceed to connect the PYNQ board to your laptop
Connecting to your computer
Every time you want to use your PYNQ, you'll have to take these steps.
-
Connect the micro-USB end of the cable to the PYNQ and the USB-A end of the cable to your computer.
ℹ️ Information
If your computer does not have a USB-A port then it is usually ok to add a USB-A to USB-C conversion cable. If you have problems connecting later, then we suggest to first change this cable to a direct micro-USB to USB-C cable that is compatible with your operating system.
⚠️ Warning
Use the micro-USB to supply power to the PYNQ board. Do not use the barrel plug unless specifically instructed to do so in your course.
-
Connect the Ethernet cable to the PYNQ and to your computer.
ℹ️ Information
If your computer does not have an Ethernet port then it is usually ok to add a Ethernet to USB-A/C converter cable. However, ensure that it is compatible with your operating system.
ℹ️ Information
Please double-check that you haven't accidentally used a DSL cable instead of an Ethernet cable to connect to your PYNQ board.
-
Toggle the power switch to the ON state.
-
Wait until the green DONE LED turns on, which indicates that the bitstream has loaded and Linux has booted (started up).

If all goes well, the PYNQ should now be connected to your computer! If something doesn't seem right, please checkout the it doesn't work page to troubleshoot your problems.
Although your computer is physically connected to the PYNQ board you still have to log in to the PYNQ board to use it.
